About the REACH Emergency Shelter Program
REACH provides confidential, safe, emergency shelter in our undisclosed location to survivors and their children escaping domestic violence. Our Emergency Shelter Program offers comprehensive victim services designed to meet the immediate needs of survivors and to assist them in gaining independence. Resources for survivors and their children include counseling, assistance securing longer-term housing, support with legal issues, a children’s program, and access to other means to help them heal and regain self-sufficiency. English and Spanish-speaking advocates work on employment issues, educational goals, parenting and child development as well as crisis intervention.
Working from a trauma-informed relational model, our trained staff provides direct services with the goal of promoting empowerment and self-determination. In addition, our licensed Child and Adolescent Therapist is available to work with children ages 3-18 who have witnessed and/or experienced domestic violence. By attending to the mental health needs of these young survivors, we work to break the cycle of abuse by preventing future violence.
Our shelter is one of the most inclusive programs in Massachusetts, being one of the only organizations that will shelter single male survivors, male survivors with their children, and parents with teenaged sons. We also serve gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered survivors.
