There are two new trades starting to work on the house this week and hopefully next: fire sprinkler systems and electrical. HVAC and rough plumbing work continue and the framing crew is finishing up a punch list. Today they took advantage of the better weather to work on the outside trim.

So much has happened in recent months! The addition to the house is framed and the roof is on. We can walk through the eight bedrooms, including the handicap accessible suite and envision the solace those walls will provide. We are thrilled that someone offered to purchase all of the beds, a magnificent gift that ensures thousands of nights of safety and comfort. All of the windows – replacement and new – are being installed.

We received three major gifts at year end totaling $44,000 toward our new shelter. We are getting close to our goal!

We just received a $50,000 grant for the Capital Campaign from an anonymous foundation!

We have officially broken ground on the new shelter!

We are very excited to report that the new shelter project is finally accelerating and we expect to start making a BIG mess next week.

Over the last six months, we have been working hard to finalize the specifications for the shelter, and we are pleased to report that we recently received our building permit at the end of January!

We received word this week that we were awarded funding from the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development, totaling $1.2 million!
