Friday, February 3, 2012

REACH kicked off our new Small Actions Campaign at Back Pages Books in Waltham on February 1, 2012.  Approximately 40 people attended the event, including many local civic leaders, member of the business community and elected officials such as Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy, Sherrif Peter Koutoujian, Representatives Tom Stanley and John Lawn, and City Councilors Ken Doucette and Diane LeBlanc. The Small Actions Campaign hopes to engage the Waltham community in preventing domestic violence because a small action can make a big difference in stopping intimate partner violence. The first part of this campaign begins Feb 5-12 with "Say Hi to Your Neighbors Week", as proclaimed by Waltham Mayor Jeanette McCarthy.

Jim Walker, photo editor of the Waltham News Tribune, shares some of his thoughts on Say Hi to Your Neighbors Week in his blog, Brand New Watch. Thanks to the Waltham Patch for helping us get the word out as well.

Waltham restaurant In A Pickle has offered to send a Hi cupcake (for free!) to help residents say Hi to their neighbors. Just drop by the restaurant on Monday Feb 6th and give them the address of a Waltham resident you'd like to say Hi to.  Visit their Facebook page for more details.
